Speech Therapy for Children
Children’s Speech Therapy
Helping Children Communicate with Confidence
Our speech therapy for children supports communication across speech sounds, language development, literacy, social communication and non-speaking children — helping each child find their voice through play, trust and evidence-based care.
At GRP Speech Pathology, we provide individualised therapy for children aged 2 to 18 across Melbourne and Australia-wide. Our sessions are fun, practical and designed around each child’s unique interests and needs.
How We Help
Ways We Help Children Thrive
We help by supporting every stage of your child’s communication journey.

Speech Sounds
We help children pronounce sounds clearly and confidently, improving their ability to be understood at home, school and in everyday life.

Language Delay
Our therapy builds understanding and expression helping children follow directions, use new words and communicate their thoughts effectively.

Stuttering
We support smoother, more confident speech using evidence-based fluency techniques that reduce tension and build communication ease for more confident socialisation.

Literacy
Therapy sessions strengthen reading, spelling and phonological awareness, giving children the tools they need for classroom success.

Paediatric Feeding
We assess and support children with feeding and swallowing difficulties, helping families establish safe, enjoyable mealtimes at every stage of development.

AAC and Non-Speaking
We support non-speaking and minimally verbal children to communicate using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), including high-tech devices, PECS and other strategies.
The GRP Difference
Function and Family-Focused
We know that progress happens when therapy feels safe, engaging and meaningful. At GRP, therapy is something children genuinely look forward to.
Every session is evidence-based and function focused, building communication skills through games, stories and everyday routines. Research consistently shows home-based therapy achieves strong outcomes, and the familiar environment makes it easier for children to practise new skills in real life. Families are central to our approach, and we work alongside parents, carers and educators to create holistic strategies that work at home, school and beyond. We also collaborate closely with other multidisciplinary team members, including occupational therapists, psychologists and educators, to ensure every child’s support is aligned and consistent.
Where We Work
We Come to You
At home, at school, in the community, or online.
Home
We bring therapy to your home, creating a comfortable, familiar environment where children feel safe and motivated to learn. Research shows therapy in a child’s own environment leads to stronger outcomes, which is why home visits are central to how we work.
School
Our clinicians work directly within schools and early learning settings to support learning, inclusion and communication in the classroom.
Online
Interactive and flexible, our online sessions deliver the same high-quality care, helping families access consistent, convenient and evidence-based support wherever they live.

FAQs
Got Questions?
Find answers to common questions about children’s speech therapy, session types and NDIS funding.
What ages do you work with?
We support children from around two years old through to adolescence, tailoring therapy to each child’s developmental stage and communication needs.
How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?
If you have any concerns about your child’s speech, language, literacy or social communication, even a mild concern, it’s always worth getting an assessment. Our team will give you honest, practical guidance.
Do you offer home visits?
Yes. We visit homes, schools and childcare centres across all metropolitan Melbourne suburbs, Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo.
Can my child attend sessions online?
Absolutely. Our online sessions are evidence-based, interactive and just as effective as in-person therapy for all goals. They’re ideal for families in regional areas or those who prefer the convenience of home sessions with no wait.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically 45 minutes.
How often will my child need therapy?
Most children attend weekly or fortnightly sessions. Your therapist will recommend a schedule after the initial assessment.
Can therapy be covered by the NDIS?
Yes. Speech therapy for children is funded under Capacity Building in most NDIS plans. As we are NDIS registered, we accept self-managed, plan-managed and agency-managed participants.
What funding is available?

How do I start the process?
Simply complete our online referral form. We’ll be in touch within 24 hours to match your child with the right clinician and confirm your first appointment.
How long will take to secure my appointment?
This really depends on two things: how complete your referral form is, and how flexible your availability is.
Once you’ve made an enquiry, we’ll send you a referral form to complete. It’s important to fill this out completely. If anything is missing, we’ll need to follow you up for it, which adds time to the process. The more detail you can give us upfront, the faster and more accurately we can match you with the best clinician for you.
Once we receive your completed form, we’ll respond within 48 hours. From there, our logistics team gets to work matching you with a speech pathologist, weighing up clinical fit, complexity of need, your location and clinician availability.
Because we’re a mobile and telehealth service rather than a traditional clinic, we don’t run on a first-come, first-served waitlist. We fit clients into the gaps in our clinicians’ schedules, so the more flexible you can be with your availability, the sooner we’re likely to find a match. Peak times, like straight after school, are in high demand, so if that’s your only option, the wait may be longer. Clients who are completely open with their availability have been matched in as little as a few days.
All communication is responded to within 24-48 hours of receipt.
What can I do to be seen as soon as possible?
Two things make the biggest difference: filling out your referral form in full, and being as flexible as possible with your availability.
Complete the referral form to its complete level of detail. If anything is missing, we’ll need to follow up with you, which slows the process down. The more information you provide upfront, the faster and more accurately we can match you with the best clinician for you.
Then, be open on availability. Because we’re a mobile and telehealth service rather than a traditional clinic, we don’t run on a first-come, first-served waitlist. We fit clients into the gaps in our clinicians’ schedules, so the more flexible you can be, the sooner we’re likely to find a match. Peak times, like straight after school, are in high demand with a limited number of clinicians, so if that’s your only option, the wait may be longer. Clients who are completely open with their availability have been matched in as little as a few days.
